Area Meets Federal Ozone Standard
On December 9, 2009 the State of Ohio held a public hearing at the Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services’ office to accept public comments on the redesignation request to ask the U.S. EPA to officially recognize the Cincinnati-Hamilton area for meeting the 1997 federal ozone standards for air quality.

Improve Air Quality this Winter
Summer isn’t the only time when smog and particulate matter (PM) are an issue. Although high levels of smog are typically associated with the summer due to more intense sunlight and warmer temperatures, smog can occur throughout the year.

New Sulfur Dioxide Standard Proposed
US EPA is proposing to tighten the sulfur dioxide (SO2) air quality standard with a new 1 hour rule in an effort to protect public health. This new standard will be between 50-100 parts per billion (ppb).

EPA Seeks Tougher Smog Standards
US EPA has proposed a stricter standard for smog-causing pollutants that would replace one adopted by the Bush administration in March 2008. The new rule would replace the ozone standard of 0.075 parts per million to 0.060 to 0.070 parts per million.
