Pollution Prevention Internship Program
The Southwest Ohio Pollution Prevention (P2) Internship Program is a summer internship program through which the intern will be paired with a company who is looking for new and innovative approaches to waste diversion, waste minimization, and recycling.
Who can apply?
The program is designed for upper level under graduate and graduate students. Acceptable fields of study include Environmental Engineering Majors, Civil Engineering Majors, Environmental Health and Safety Majors, and Environmental Science Majors.
When are applications due?
The paid Internship will start in
late May or early June 2010. Applications are due no later than February

How does the P2 Internship Program work?
The intern will be employed by the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District (District) and will be a contractor for the chosen company. Intern will work at the company with assistance from a project supervisor designated by the company, a technical advisor chosen by the District, and a pollution prevention coordinator, employed by the District. The intern will receive an intense week of pollution prevention training prior to the start date. The intern will be expected to work a minimum of 12 weeks and a maximum of 26 weeks.
Why was the P2 Internship Program developed?
To give students an edge in obtaining full time employment after graduation, and to give businesses fresh ideas about waste reduction and recycling and save companies money.
