ODNR Market Development Grant Applications to Open in November
Each year, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention offers grant funding through its Market Development Program to Ohio’s businesses. The grant funds are intended to support the creation of the infrastructure necessary for successful recycling markets in Ohio. ODNR is seeking proposals involving one or more of the following materials collected or processed in Ohio:
- carpet and padding
- construction and demolition debris
- electronics
- glass
- old corrugated cardboard
- organic (food and fiber-based) material
- plastic
Eligibility Criteria
Private sector businesses (cooperating enterprises) may apply through an eligible sponsor, which includes one of the following State agencies::
- Ohio cities
- Ohio counties
- Ohio solid waste management districts or solid waste management authorities
- State colleges and universities
Special Conditions
The cooperating enterprise must commit a minimum of 100% matching funds, equal to the amount requested in grant funds. The match must be a cash contribution or a documented line of credit. The maximum grant period is 24 months. The types of projects and funding limits are as follows:

November 16, 2009 – Application posted on
www.ohiodnr.com/recycling
December 18, 2009 – Draft application due to Hamilton County Solid Waste District
(This is mandatory and serves as your notice of intent to apply for the grant.)
December 18, 2009 – Information session at Ohio DNR
(not mandatory)
January 12, 2010 – Final application due to Hamilton County Solid Waste District
January 21, 2010 – Application submitted to Solid Waste District Policy Committee for approval
February 1, 2010 – Applications due to ODNR
May 2010 – Awards announced
July 2010 – Funding available; projects begin.
