The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District is currently beginning the process of updating its Solid Waste Management Plan. The District was created by State law in order to ensure that Hamilton County meets State mandated recycling goals and maintains access to adequate solid waste disposal capacity.

Hamilton County’s Solid Waste Management Plan provides the framework for implementing all of the District’s programs. Current business programming includes:

• The Interchange – A quarterly newsletter providing business and industry with a market place for their waste products.
• Free Waste Assessments – The District provides technical assistance to businesses, on a confidential basis, to help them save money through waste reduction.
• Pollution Prevention Internship Program – The District partially funds an intern and places that intern in a local industry to identify ways to reduce waste.
• Recycling at Work – The District provides technical assistance and supplies to start office recycling programs.

The Plan Update process will determine whether these programs are maintained, altered, or eliminated in future District programming. Your input is desired as we determine which course of action best meets the needs of our stakeholders.
