Event Recycling Grows

2009 is quickly becoming the most successful year yet for the District’s Recycling Container Loan Program! Any organization sponsoring an event in Hamilton County can borrow the easily recognizable recycling containers for free. The District provides containers, liners, and technical advice, while event organizers collect and recycle the material.

So far, 72 events hosting more than 280,000 people have signed up to borrow the containers. Community organizers from Colerain Township, Green Township, Montgomery, Sycamore Township, Fairfax, and Wyoming, as well as Hyde Park and Northside in the City of Cincinnati, have made their events greener by utilizing the program to offer recycling at concerts, picnics, and parades. The containers also made appearances at the Flying Pig Marathon, PaddleFest, and the Hamilton County Fair.
