Applications Available for 2010 District Priority Grant
Would your community like to increase public recycling, add a new drop-off, or enhance organics diversion? The District will accept applications for the 2010 District Priority Grant until September 30, 2009. Projects focusing on the three target issues will receive priority funding over other projects. The three priorities for 2010 are:
1. Organics Diversion: Includes both food and yard waste diversion. For example,
starting a new yard waste composting facility or promoting backyard composting.
2. New, Permanent Residential Recycling Drop-Offs: Begin recycling drop-offs in new
locations.
3. Recycling in Public Areas: Implement recycling in any public venue. Projects could
entail installing recycling containers in parks or business districts or implementing event
recycling.
Projects focusing on one of these three areas will receive priority over other projects but all applications will be considered. In 2010, a total of $100,000 is allocated for District Priority Grants – $50,000 for non-profit organizations and $50,000 for local governments.
