Welcome
We have exciting news to report! Hamilton County communities dramatically increased recycling in 2008! Residents recycled over 35,000 tons of material, the largest amount Hamilton County has recycled in the last seven years. Read the first article to find details about the environmental benefits and which communities achieved over 20% recycling rates.
This edition of the WasteLine is packed with information about residential recycling and waste management in Hamilton County. You will find updates on storm debris clean-ups and the RecycleBank pilot project, as well as details on free programs available to Hamilton County residents in 2009. We also included an article about increasing your recycling rate with a community recycling drop-off.
In 2009, the District will focus on the first of the 3R’s: waste reduction. This often overlooked topic is an essential piece of responsible waste management. We are developing a special webpage with tips on how to reduce waste along with a series of articles highlighting waste reduction. Reducing waste in your community will increase your recycling rate and lessen your community’s environmental impact. Check out tips for waste reduction and articles to pass onto your residents when our waste reduction page launches in April.
Sincerely,
