Yardwaste Recycling in Your Community

Many Hamilton County communities offer separate yardwaste collection for their residents. To learn the guidelines for yardwaste collection, click on your community below or click on an alphabetical link on the left.

Fall, 2009 (updating in progress)

A

Addyston - Yardwaste is no longer collected separately. Leaves and grass clippings can be placed with other garbage at your curb. However, sticks, brush, and limbs should be tied in bundles no more than 4 feet long and placed at the curb during your regular trash pick up. For more information, contact the Village of Addyston or call 941-1313.

The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District encourages Addyston residents to recycle their yardwaste at the free yardwaste drop-off locations within the County.

Amberley - The Village of Amberley no longer requires yardwaste stickers. Items such as grass and rakings can be put out with the residents' normal trash. However, sticks, brush, limbs, and Christmas trees (all ornaments must be removed) are picked up at curbside weekly for composting.

During leaf season (October 15 through December 31) residents should take note of the following procedures for the disposal of leaves. Bulk leaves must be raked to the curb and will be picked up by the Village Service Department using the vacuum leaf collector during the leaf collection period (October 15 - December 31). Residents are required to keep grass, brush clippings and other debris (rock, gravel, trash, metal, etc.) separate from the leaves. Leaf piles containing brush and other debris will not be picked up. Such debris can damage leaf collection equipment. Leaves placed in the street clog gutters and storm drains and may constitute a traffic hazard. Leaf piles should be placed just behind the curb in your yard and extend no more than 10 feet up into your yard. Our equipment cannot reach any further than this. Leaf piles blocked by parked cars or low hanging tree limbs will not be picked up. It is impossible for us to get the leaf collection equipment into such tight areas. The areas in which leaves should NEVER be placed are around mailboxes, sign posts, utility poles, and guide wires. They should also especially NEVER be placed around fire hydrants

A separate Amberley crew picks up brush material. Click here to find out when crews will pickup your brush. When placing limbs near the road, leave them side by side, with the broken or cut end of the limb placed closest to the street. Leaves should be piled at the curb line, but must not be placed in the street. Small sticks, twigs, clippings, and raked material should be placed in bags and/or cans, in compliance with yard waste regulations, to be picked up by the trash collector on your regular waste collection day. Vines and sticks with thorns must be kept separate from other material and cut in 4-foot lengths. For more information, contact Amberley Village or 531-8675.

Anderson Township - Anderson Township residents subscribe directly with Rumpke or CSI for solid waste and recycling services. Rumpke or CSI no longer provide separate yardwaste collection for Anderson Township. Residents no longer need to use a sticker; they can set yardwaste out with their normal garbage for collection. Anderson Township does not have a leaf collection program.

The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District encourages Anderson Township residents to use the free yardwaste drop-off locations. For more information, contact Anderson Township or 688-8400.

The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District encourages Blue Ash residents to use one of the three, free yardwaste drop-off sites.

Between mid-October and mid-December the Service Department vacuums loose leaves along City streets; no bagging is required during this time. Leaves should be brought to the curb or to the berm of the road if no curb exists. Please make sure leaves are not left in the ditch line and out of the street to avoid drainage problems. Please do not mix any other yard waste items in with the leaves (such as grass, twigs, rocks, plastic bags, or flowers). There is one day scheduled in the spring for the collection of leaves. Call 686-1250 or check the community calendar for the date. Rumpke collects leaves on your regular garbage day all year long that are bagged or placed in containers.

From March through October, brush will also be collected weekly by City crews if placed at the curb or berm of the road. During  November, December, January, and February brush will be picked up on a call-in basis by contacting the Service Garage at 686-1250. Leaves, when raked to the curb and not mixed with other yard waste, are vacuumed each Spring (the first 2 weeks of April) and in the Fall (from 10-15 to 12-15) by Village crews. We compost the leaves at the Washington Park Compost facility and will recycle the composted material back to residents upon request. Branches, when placed at the curb, stacked neatly and not contaminated with other yard waste, are chipped and removed by our crews beginning March 1 thru December 1 of each year. Be sure not to exceed 4” in diameter, to stack them in a row (untangled) and to never put out branches that may have nails or root systems (with dirt) as serious damage could occur to our expensive chipping equipment. Contact Rumpke directly at 742-2900 to schedule yardwaste pickups from December 1 - February 28. A yardwaste sticker for each container is required and may be purchased at the City Building for $2.00. Place yardwaste loosely in a trash can with a lid and handles or in a yardwaste bag. The container can weight no more than 50 pounds. No plastic bags can be used. Sticks may be bundled in lengths no more than four feet in length and weigh no more than 50 pounds per bundle. Yardwaste must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on pick up day. The City will collect Christmas trees at the curb until mid-January.

Leaves are generally picked up curbside during the months of October, November, December, and March.  Residents are required to keep grass, brush clippings and other debris (rocks, gravel, trash, metal etc.) separate from the leaves.  Leaf piles containing such materials will not be picked up.  Such debris can damage leaf collection equipment.  Leaves should be placed just behind the curb in your yard and extend no more than ten feet up into your yard.  Our equipment can not reach any further than this.

Leaves are composted and ground by the Department and offered to residents beginning in March. You may call the City Building (513.821.7600) to place on order for mulch beginning at 8:00 a.m. on the first Monday in March each year.

For more information, call the City of Wyoming at 821-7600.
