Yardwaste Recycling in Your Community
Many Hamilton County communities offer separate
yardwaste collection for their residents. To learn the guidelines for yardwaste
collection, click on your community below or click on an alphabetical link on the left.
Spring 2010 (updating complete)
A
Addyston -
Yardwaste is no longer collected separately. Leaves
and grass clippings can be placed with other garbage
at your curb. However, sticks, brush, and limbs
should be tied in bundles no more than 4 feet long
and placed at the curb during your regular trash
pick up. For more information, contact the
Village of Addyston
or call 941-1313.
The Hamilton
County Solid Waste Management District encourages Addyston residents to recycle
their yardwaste at the free
yardwaste drop-off locations within the County.
Amberley -
The Village of
Amberley no longer requires yardwaste stickers. Items such as grass and rakings
can be put out with the residents' normal trash. However, sticks, brush, limbs, and
Christmas trees (all ornaments must be removed) are picked up at curbside weekly for composting.
During leaf
season (October 15 through December 31) residents should take note of
the following procedures for the disposal of leaves. Bulk leaves must be raked
to the curb and will be picked up by the Village Service Department using the
vacuum leaf collector during the leaf collection period (October 15 - December
31). Residents are required to keep grass, brush clippings and other debris
(rock, gravel, trash, metal, etc.) separate from the leaves. Leaf piles
containing brush and other debris will not be picked up. Such debris can damage
leaf collection equipment. Leaves placed in the street clog gutters and storm
drains and may constitute a traffic hazard. Leaf piles should be placed just
behind the curb in your yard and extend no more than 10 feet up into your yard.
Our equipment cannot reach any further than this.
Leaf piles blocked by parked
cars or low hanging tree limbs will not be picked up. It is impossible for us
to get the leaf collection equipment into such tight areas. The areas in which
leaves should NEVER be placed are around
mailboxes, sign posts, utility poles, and guide wires. They should also
especially NEVER be placed around fire
hydrants
A separate Amberley crew picks up brush material.
Click here to find out when crews will pickup
your brush. When placing limbs near the road, leave them side by side, with the broken or
cut end of the limb placed closest to the street. Leaves should be piled at the
curb line, but must not be placed in the street. Small
sticks, twigs, clippings, and raked material should be placed in bags and/or
cans, in compliance with yard waste regulations, to be picked up by the trash
collector on your regular waste collection day. Vines and sticks with thorns
must be kept separate from other material and cut in 4-foot lengths. For more
information, contact
Amberley Village
or 531-8675.

The City will provide
citywide leaf collection from October 19 - mid-December. The City will alternate between the east
and west sides of Rt. 4. Brush and limbs will continue to be collected on the current
schedule. Immediately following Christmas, city crews will drive the entire city
every couple of days and collect Christmas trees. After two weeks following
Christmas, trees should be placed curbside with normal brush pick up. All yardwaste
items should be placed at the curb before 7:30 am of the scheduled day of pickup
for that area. After the brush and limbs are chipped, the mulch is available to
residents on request. The mulch may be delivered to single family residents on a
"first come, first serve" basis. We request residents follow these suggestions
to enable our collection crews to move quickly through an area.
* Leaves should
be raked to the area between the curb and sidewalk. Do not rake leaves into the
street since they could block water during heavy rain.
* Do not rake branches, rock, bottles, or cans into the leaves.
* Keep brush separated from leaves; do not mix them.
* Do not block sidewalks with leaf piles.
* Do not cover fire hydrants, landscaping rock or timbers with
leaves.
* Do not bag leaves unless they are intended for regular trash
pickup.
* Brush and limbs should be stacked with cut ends facing the same
direction.

Storm Damage
Collection
Storm
damage collection is a service Sycamore Township has
provided for many years through the Maintenance
Department. The storm damage policy of the Township
begins with the safety services department.
Sycamore Township Fire Chief Jetter declares whether
a "storm damage condition" has occurred. When
"storm damage condition" has been declared,
residents must call 791-8447 within two
working days after the storm to have the
branches picked up at no charge or fill out our
Action-Line form. The storm damage should be placed
at the curb within two weeks of the storm. Please
check the home page for ALERTS on storm damage
announcements.
When
you call, tell the office staff that you have storm
damage, give them your name, address and phone
number. It is not the policy of Sycamore Township
to cover the whole Township street by street after
the storm, but rather collecting only the addresses
reported to the office. The maintenance department
will-only pick up limbs and branches from the recent
storm. Leaves, which are picked up during our
annual fall "leaf season" will not be collected.
Foundation plantings, old firewood, and tree and
brush pruning will not be collected as storm
damage. They can be disposed of through your trash
collection or at our monthly brush chipping program
held behind the Sycamore Township Maintenance
Building, 8540 Kenwood Road, from 8 am until 4 pm on
the first Saturday of each month.
Curbside
Brush Pick-up
Yard
and tree brush can also be collected by the
Maintenance Department crews on an as needed basis
for a fee of $50.00. All brush must be placed at
the curb with all trimmed ends facing the same
direction (towards the street) for quicker
handling by the road crew. Residents must
call 791-8447 to have the brush picked up
and a work order started or simply fill out our
Action-Line form. Fees will be billed to the
property owner after the brush is cleared.
Fall leaf collection begins
mid-October and runs through mid-December. Leaves should be raked out to the
public right of way beside the street. DO NOT PUT LEAVES IN THE STREET. Other
yardwaste mixed with the leaves will not be picked up.
The Sycamore Township Maintenance Department will, once again, chip
Christmas trees. Christmas trees will be chipped at two sites: Bechtold Park,
4312 Sycamore Road and Solzman Park ,11797 Solzman
Road. Drop trees off at the designated area at either location 24-hours/day. Trees will be
chipped beginning December 26 through mid-January. Chips will be available at the
spring and fall Compost/ Wood chip Give-Away. For more information, please contact
Sycamore Township or 791-8447.

any further than this.
