Recycling Options Available to Schools

Recycling Assistance Program (RAP)
Technical Assistance for School Recycling Programs

Are you a school administrator concerned about solid waste disposal costs? Are you a recycling-conscious teacher or student? The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District (District) wants to help your school set-up a new solid waste reduction/recycling program or expand your existing program.

A representative from the District can come to your school and meet with principals, teachers, students, facility managers, custodians, and PTAs to help you assess your school’s waste stream and determine what program is right for your school. The District can also help you design your collection method to have a minimal impact on custodians; educate staff, students, and parents; and generate school pride and enthusiasm for the program.

The RAP program has been revised to feature two distinct levels of service available to schools. Both levels will continue to offer schools resources such as recycling supplies, consultation services, grants, teacher training and curriculum, and classroom presentations by District staff. However, only the Gold Level will offer schools subsidized field trips and contracted presentations.

The two levels have been created to offer schools flexibility in meeting their recycling goals and to make the application process more user-friendly. For more information on the Gold and Silver Level RAP program or to schedule a visit, contact Keebler Holley at 513-946-7736.

Once you have committed to starting a program, complete the appropriate RAP Registration Form and Individual School Recycling Plan. To learn more about and register for the Gold Level RAP Program, click here. To learn more about and register for the Silver Level RAP Program, click here.

If your school is registered in the RAP already but you need to update your information, fill out the RAP Registration Update Form and fax it to 946-7779.
