Youth Council is Seeking Student Members
Have some students that are passionate about being green? The Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services (HCDOES) has a group for them. Right now, HCDOES is accepting applications for the 2009-2010 “Green Team” Youth Council–a unique group of students that work with local environmental professionals to express ideas, get involved with local green events, and make a difference in the local environment.
The HCDOES Youth Council provides students with the opportunity to learn more about environmental issues such as air quality and recycling, while also making an impact in their schools and communities. Volunteer opportunities and excursions to environmental sites of interest are also available through the Council. Last year’s Youth Council, was recognized by the Cincinnati Bengals and Coach Marvin Lewis as a “Green Team,” and invited to Paul Brown Stadium for the Bengals Draft Party. Students also worked on outreach campaign ideas, and took an educational tour of the LEED certified Schott Education Center at the Cincinnati Zoo.

The program is for high
school students between the ages 13-18, who reside in Hamilton,
Butler, Clermont and Warren Counties. Interested high school students
may apply by downloading the
application from the HCDOES website. Application deadline is September 14, 2009.
Teens have the potential to make a big difference in our local environment. Please encourage your students to join the effort toward a greener community by applying for the HCDOES Youth Council today!
