The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District
(District) assists Hamilton County businesses increase
recycling and reduce waste management costs through
a variety of programs.
Benefits of Recycling

Lowers waste disposal costs by reducing the amount
of material that is landfilled.

Conserves energy – Recycling one ton of paper
saves 4,100 kilowatts of energy (enough to power
the average home for six months).

Reduces reliance on landfills.

Creates jobs - The recycling industry has a total
economic impact of 169,000 jobs and $6 billion
in annual wages, just in the state of Ohio.

Industrial/Commercial Recyclers – Find

Free Industrial Waste Assessment – Receive
a free waste assessment to help reduce costs and
increase recycling.
Recycling at Work(Commercial Businesses) – Receive
free assistance implementing office recycling programs.
Pollution Prevention Internship Program – Identify
ways to reduce waste and save money by utilizing
upper level college students in a 3-month internship
program.
Computer Recycling – Find a list of local
computer recyclers and refurbishers. (link to page)
Food Waste – Over 130,000 tons of food is
thrown away each year. Find out how your company

Grants – Learn about environmental grants

Multi-Family Recycling Program – Receive free
