How to Increase your Recycling Rate
Take Advantage of the District’s Supplies
Speaking with a resident face-to-face about recycling is one of the most effective way to convince someone to recycle. Perhaps the only chance we have to do this on a large scale is at community events. If your community hosts an event and you set up a booth to inform residents about the services you offer, consider requesting supplies from the District which could boost your recycling participation in the process. You can also use these supplies in new homeowner packets or to have
available at your municipal building.

Recycling pledge cards – this simple, tri-fold brochure includes a list of what is
recyclable, the environmental benefits of one family recycling for a year, our
recycling hotline number, and a detachable postage paid pledge card that a
resident will fill out and drop in the mail.
Three different magnets with the Recycling Hotline, Yardwaste and Composting
Hotline, and Household Hazardous Waste Hotline numbers.
Direct mail pieces with attached magnet – these pieces went with our Fall 2010
outreach campaign and are only available in limited supply. They list what is
recyclable, stats about the benefit of recycling, and include an attached magnet
that residents can place on their refrigerator as a reminder to recycle.
Residential Program flyers – these flyers promote our three respective annual
drop-off programs for household hazardous waste, yardwaste, and computers and
televisions. We also have flyers promoting our Compost Bin Sale on May 14th.
Other program flyers – if you would like to also promote business or multi-family
recycling, we have flyers explaining our Recycling at Work, Bar and Restaurant
Recycling, and Multi-Family programs as well.
