VOC Results
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are gases
emitted from certain solids or liquids. Some of these gases may have
short or long term health effects. Examples of VOCs include benzene,
toluene, xylene, and Freon 113. There are no National Ambient Air
Quality Standards for VOCs.
The samples will be collected every 12 days for a
24 hour period beginning at midnight. Air samples will be
collected using SUMMA canisters and analyzed for 72 compounds.
Samples are analyzed using a modified US EPA TO-14A. The
method detection limit for the 72 compounds ranges from 0.10 to 0.50
parts per billion (ppb).
A wind rose for the same 24 hour sampling period
is generated for each sampling period from the meteorological
equipment at the monitoring site. The wind direction is in degrees
and represents the direction the wind is blowing from. For example,
90 degrees means the wind is coming from the east and blowing
towards the west.
