The
Air Quality Management Division (AQMD) works with government agencies,
businesses, communities and citizens to achieve and maintain
healthy air quality for Southwest
Ohio.
The AQMD serves Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren
counties and is organized into two sections:
Permits and Enforcement
Coordinates the permitting of all stationary air emissions
sources in
Southwest Ohio
Responds to
complaints
Conducts facility
inspections
Issues open
burning permits
Initiates noncompliance enforcement
action as a representative of the
Ohio Environmental Protection
Agency (OhioEPA)

Monitors and documents daily air

AQI

Records
pollen and mold counts and air
toxics levels
Relates levels of six criteria pollutants
in the region's air quality
to a
series of health-based standards, as shown on the

quality
monitoring pages
Conducts anti-tampering inspections, stack
observations/validations
and emissions inventory programs

AQMD also offers the following services:
Smog Information
HCDOES issues a smog alert when conditions
are favorable for the formation of smog. Additional
smog alert information,
including statistics,
procedures
and related links,
is provided.
Outreach and Education
To further serve the community, businesses,
schools and environmental organizations of the four county
area, HCDOES has developed an air quality outreach and education
program. The program focuses on providing programs and
resources, including a business and community newsletter
called
The
Breeze, and many other publications.
