What You Can Do to Reduce PM Levels

One person can make a difference in the effort to reduce PM and other types of air pollution.  Here are a few tips on how you can help improve Southwest Ohio’s air quality:

  • Carpool – cars, trucks and buses are the number one source of air pollution and PM in Southwest Ohio.
  • Don’t open burn – open burning releases particulate pollution and cancer-causing chemicals into the air.
  • Conserve energy – the less energy you use, the less energy power companies produce.
  • Turn off your car – idling (leaving a car’s engine running when it is not in use) wastes gas and releases unnecessary PM into the air.
  • Recycle and buy recycled goods – recycled goods use less energy to be manufactured than goods manufactured from new materials.
  • Ride the bus – visit www.sorta.com for bus schedules in the Greater Cincinnati or visit www.tankbus.org for bus schedules in Northern Kentucky.
