With 1,100 colleges and universities nationwide, Focus the Nation will be the largest teach-in ever held in American history. "A teach-in is a day when an entire school turns its attention to a single issue — when faculty, students and staff put aside business as usual, and focus the full weight of campus engagement on one topic." Focus the Nation will bring awareness to the problems of global warming and will address practical solutions from all angles for students to implement in their own lives and on-campus.

Mark R. Shanahan from the Offices of the Governor of the State of Ohio, is
the Governor’s Energy Adviser and the Executive Director of the Ohio Air
Quality Development Authority. He will present an overview of the new
Energy Policy now in Congress, with input on how it will impact the
building and facility industry in Ohio while highlighting key changes from

March 17 Cincinnati State’s Green Commitment Surges on St. Patrick’s Day Cincinnati State will announce its commitment to making campus more environmentally friendly at the Surge Green Challenge Kick-Off on the greenest day of the year, St. Patrick’s Day. John Henderson, interim president of Cincinnati State, will sign the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment and announce the College’s involvement in the Hamilton County Go Green Challenge. Cincinnati State has named its on-campus initiative Surge Green. Brewster Rhoads, the Governor’s regional director for Southwest Ohio, will be on hand to give a presentation on efforts to improve the environment happening throughout Ohio. In addition to the presentations, event attendees can participate in games like Suma Wrestling (renewable energy vs. fossil fuels) and an environmental quiz game. The event also will feature educational exhibits, and attendees can have their fill of green cookies and punch and Irish music to celebrate the occasion. The public is welcome. Time:
