Meet Errin Howard, New Education Assistant

Hello, my name is Errin Howard and I am the new education assistant for the Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services-Solid Waste Management District. Although I am new to the County, I am not new in the environmental field or in the classroom!

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree in environmental science. While still in school, I began working at Keep Cincinnati Beautiful as an intern and eventually became the education specialist. Now, I am excited to work for the County to continue educating children of all ages about solid waste issues.

I will be out of the office on maternity leave beginning in October and will not return until the fourth week in November. During this time, please contact Sue Magness at (513) 946-7736, with any questions. Otherwise, please feel free to give me a call at (513) 946-7737. I look forward to working with you this coming school year!

Free Air Quality Mini-Workshops: We’ll Come to You!

Would you like a free Air Quality Workshop brought to you? You pick the date and the Air Quality Management Division will bring a mini-workshop to your school. Workshops will provide you with numerous ways to make air pollution visible to your students and will help tie air quality to many other concerns, such as our health, plants, and soil and water quality.

Workshops will provide many free supplies including a teachers' guide with great introductory material, lesson plans, and simple classroom activities. The 2-hour mini-workshops are aimed at grades 1-8, though the lessons are easily adaptable. You can schedule a workshop for an in-service day or after school.

A minimum of four teachers are required for a workshop to take place, so please ask other teachers in your school if they are interested. More than one date can be arranged for larger groups. Please contact Lynn White at (513) 946-7754 or at lynn.white@hamilton-co.org for more information or to schedule a workshop.
