District Hosts Compost Bin Sale
On Saturday, September 27, Hamilton and Clermont County residents will be able to purchase home compost bins at a drastically reduced price. During the one-day event, Earth Machine compost bins that usually retails for as much as $100 online, will cost only $37 a piece. Other composting accessories will also be available.
By sponsoring this event, the Hamilton and Clermont Solid Waste Districts encourage residents to reduce waste through backyard composting. Food scraps and yardwaste make up approximately one fourth of what we send to the landfill. Fortunately, residents can compost much of this material easily at home, including vegetable and fruit scraps from the kitchen and leaves and brush from the yard. After a few months in a backyard composter that waste becomes a valuable soil amendment for the garden.
If you would like compost bin sale flyers to distribute to residents, please contact Susan Schumacher at 946-7734.
