Participation in District Programs Soars in 2007!
Hamilton County residents and businesses took advantage of many District programs in 2007. Here is a quick glance at the results. Look for a full summary of all our programs in the Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services Progress Report later in the spring.
Community
Household Hazardous Waste Program – 9,280 households dropped off hazardous waste
Yardwaste Drop-Off – 22,257 households used the yard waste program
Computer Recycling Drop-Off – 1,657 households dropped off computers for recycling
Compost Bin Sale – 821 compost bins sold in one day
Residential Recycling Incentive – $1,050,000 dispersed to 43 communities
Business
The Interchange – reached over 3,000 companies with a quarterly materials exchange newsletter
Recycling at Work – provided recycling assistance to 29 office buildings representing over 16,000 employees
Waste Assessments – 4 industries received industrial waste audits
Education
School presentations and field trips – Reached 10,500 Students
Recycling Assistance Program – 29 schools initiated a sustainable recycling program
Workshops – Held 25 workshops for teachers and residents
