Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District

Community Spotlight - Taking a Closer Look

Just over one year ago, the Village of Lockland had no recycling opportunities for its residents.  Thanks to the initiative of Village employees, Lockland now has a 24-hour recycling drop off.  The recycling drop off is located in the Village Parking Lot (across the street from the Police Station).  Items accepted for recycling include: newspaper, magazines, phone books, brown paper grocery bags, #1 and #2 plastic bottles, aluminum and steel cans, and glass bottles and jars (any color).

The Village’s recycling program is a success.  Through working with the schools and heavily advertising and promoting the new drop off to its residents, the Village of Lockland recycled over 66,000 pounds of material within the first six months!

As many know, recycling is more than just dropping off materials.  For recycling to work, local governments, businesses and residents must buy products made from the collected recyclables.  Lockland has taken this seriously. Over the years, Lockland has purchased many picnic tables and park benches made from old plastic bottles.

The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District thanks the Village of Lockland for their continued support of recycling.
